Advanced equipment plays a decisive role in the industry.From the perspective of process and equipment, electronic manufacturing engineering has certain commonality. Electronic manufacturing engineering can be divided into material engineering, matrix engineering, assembly engineering, test engineering and auxiliary engineering.


  At present, China has broken the situation in which all major electronic manufacturing equipment relies on imports. Domestically produced equipment and national brands have begun to occupy a certain share in the electronic manufacturing equipment market.


  China's largest market in the world

  The Chinese market has accounted for 40% of the world's total and has become the largest and most important SMT market in the world.


  The placement machine is the most critical equipment in the SMT production line and usually accounts for more than 60% of the entire SMT production line investment, which is the bottleneck of the SMT production line efficiency. The placement speed of the new generation of SMT machines has been greatly improved. In order to enhance the adaptability and efficiency of use, the new mounter is moving toward a flexible and modular structure. Fujitsu's modular module can meet the mounting requirements of different components and can be mounted with different accuracy and speed to achieve high efficiency. When the user has new requirements, a new function module machine can be added as needed. With the increase of chip integration, the pitch of the chip wiring and the diameter of the solder ball have been reduced, and higher requirements have been placed on the alignment and positioning accuracy of the mounting equipment. New motion design and control methods need to be studied to achieve a smooth, fast, and accurate positioning.   From 2004 to 2010, the average annual growth rate of the Chinese automatic placement machine market reached 27.2%. The demand for placement machines will continue to grow steadily. The automatic placement machine has developed rapidly in the major markets of China, such as mobile phones, notebook computers, digital cameras and home appliances. As of August 2010, the total number of SMT mounters in China was nearly 100,000 units, and the SMT production line was approximately 50,000. China's SMT automatic placement machine market has accounted for 40% of the world's total, and China has become the world's largest and most important SMT market. . The SMT industry in China is mainly concentrated in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, and the Bohai Rim region. The total SMT/EMS in Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong, Tianjin, Beijing, and Liaoning accounted for over 80% of the country's total. For a long time, foreign SMT machines have unified the domestic SMT market. In 2008, they imported more than 9,000 units and the amount was nearly 10 billion yuan. The main manufacturers of SMT machines that are dominant in the domestic market are: Siemens, Panasonic, Universal, Fujifilm, Yamaha, Juki, and Samsung.


  The placement machine was once one of the key development projects in the electronic equipment category in China's "7th Five-Year Plan", "Eighth Five-Year Plan", and "Nineth Five-Year Plan" period. Several units have respectively carried out research and have obtained a large number of scientific research achievements. Although these research results have not been industrialized, they have accumulated valuable experience for latecomers. For a long time, SMT machines have been imported from abroad. Localization of SMT machines has always been a Chinese dream.


  R&D strategy is essential


  SMT R&D involves multiple disciplines and must develop a complete R&D strategy.


  The basic technology of the SMT machine has been matured in the country. A group of companies have succeeded in manufacturing various SMT equipment and equipment other than the SMT machine.The time has come to develop a domestic mounter, and it is imperative to develop a high-speed and high-precision visual patcher, which is in line with the requirements of the country's strategic emerging industries.


  The placement machine is a complex device involving multiple disciplines and a set of research and development strategies must be developed:


  The government sets up the stage. The SMT machine project is a high-tech R&D project that is cross-industry and cross-technical. It is suggested that a local or central government organizes several companies to jointly set up an organization, and the government will invest start-up funds or set up special funds in the form of projects. The "national team" composed of senior experts is responsible for the development.


  The preferred model. There are many types of mounters, such as sequential mounting, simultaneous mounting, and modular mounting. China is a big country in electronics manufacturing. The production line market is very large and it needs different grades of placement machines. Therefore, we must optimize the model, reduce the difficulty of the development of the placement machine, and quickly enter the electronic equipment industry.


  Focus on research, optimize integration. Focus on the development of the key technologies of the placement machine (such as: vision technology, motion control technology that can solve the problems of high speed and placement accuracy, software technology, etc.), and form their own core technologies. On the other hand, existing specialized technologies are integrated through procurement, introduction, and other methods. This not only reduces R&D costs, increases speed, but also has a high success rate.


  Strengthen management. Adopt advanced management platform to strengthen management. For example: manufacturing resource planning, concurrent engineering, project planning review technology PERT and other technology platforms. Through the formulation of the plan, the entire project will be continuously subdivided, and the overall R&D process and objectives of the project will be determined according to the core technical modules of the project. At the same time, the task quality assessment team is composed of responsible persons of various specialties. In the various stages of the project, timely inspections and assessments are conducted. Based on the results of the inspections, the contents of the original task book are adjusted in a timely manner.


  Three stages of SMT equipment localization experience:


  Technology introduction and reconstruction period (1980-1994)


  Since the introduction of the first SMT production line in China in 1980, the state-owned enterprises and research institutes as the main body have started the localization of electronic manufacturing equipment. Domestically produced equipment in this period is mainly for the introduction of various types of production lines supporting services and customization, there is no real marketization.


  In addition to the mounter, most of the equipment used to manufacture SMTs for electronic machines has been developed during this period. For example: plug-in assembly line, wave soldering, reflow, thick/thin film hybrid integrated circuit manufacturing equipment.


  The technical level of these domestically produced equipments and foreign equipments is quite different. They are generally used for experiments or small batch production, and they are small in scale and low in class. Domestic chip components, regardless of their variety, or their quantity, are far from meeting the high-speed domestic demand for electronic product processing. Paste and other special accessories, but also almost all foreign brands.


  The rise of private enterprises (1995-2002)


  For electronic components, PCBs, and integrated circuit manufacturing equipment, domestic electronic components companies are increasingly impacted by foreign products. They have been merged, closed down, and switched to other companies. The market for electronic component manufacturing equipment has been shrinking. What is gratifying is that during this period, private enterprises have risen suddenly, especially the private equipment manufacturers of PCB equipment, occupying 80% of the domestic PCB equipment market share.


  For electronic machine SMT manufacturing equipment, since 1995, China has become a veritable electronics manufacturing country. Contrary to the sluggish market of electronic component manufacturing equipment and integrated circuit manufacturing equipment, the SMT manufacturing equipment for electronic whole machines has been steadily developing, and localized SMT equipment driven by Nitto Corporation. After nearly a hundred manufacturing plants for 10 years, it is at the peak. Welders and reflow furnaces have been successful in manufacturing. Domestic colleges and universities also began to enter the electronic equipment manufacturing industry. Although most of the domestically-made equipment belongs to low-end equipment, domestic equipment is increasingly growing.


  Domestic Equipment Brand Development Period (2003-2010)


  For electronic components, PCBs and integrated circuit manufacturing equipment, after more than 20 years of development, especially after the rapid development of 2003, the front-end industrial equipment supporting SMT, including printed circuit boards, passive components and other electronic parts manufacturing The equipment has been basically domesticated, and many well-known private enterprises have formed, accumulating a number of excellent scientific research results with high technological content, large market capacity, and good prospects for application and industrialization.
